Sunlight

Years of accumulation for sitting in front of computer for too long; small problem becomes bigger problem.  I have developed a back pain that occasionally pressured the nerve of the front of my lower leg. I try to go out to paint and draw because I can stand and have real light shining on my face instead of artificial blue light

Griffith Park Adventure Sketching

I lived in Chicago for 4 years. The city is full of beautiful architectures but it doesn't have hills. It is Flat, very flat. I was very excited when I first moved to the west coast because there are hills and mountains I can paint!  And real beaches (though I don't go to beach that much)

The first one is a warm up

and the palette gradually became muddier until the rest all turned into ugly grays.

Oh right, It's called adventure sketching because we climbed up to the base of a power line tower and paint under it.

Third Culture

I am working on an animated short. My goal is to have it premiere by the end of this year at film festival.

I always appreciates traditional animation, whether it is hand-drawn, zoetrope, stopmotion and more. They fascinates me. The physical drawings or objects are not moving, yet we see the illusion of motions. 

Unfortunately hand-drawn animation in North America is dying. For simple yet complex economical reason. 

There are still many independent filmmakers/animators using hand-drawn technique but most of the time the general public will not see the work. But there's nothing to be depress about because as long as the film can touches one person's feeling then it is worth the time and effort. 

This short will be hand-drawn.
